IRS Won’t Mail Tax Forms

Posted: September 28, 2010 in Being Green

Tax season next year will no longer be the same as the Fed will no longer send out the tax form / package next year for the 2010 Tax Returns.  Seems about a 1/3 of the US population e-files each year and that number is growing, also another 20M file with tax professionals.  By eliminating this step – the Fed will save $10M / year and reduce paper waste.  If you do want to file with the standard form / package – you can get them at a local public library or USPS.

Earlier this year I had to print out the W2s which I prefer as it reduces overall cost of having a physical piece of paper mailed.  Multiply that by ~ 300 million people and you can see the savings in cost and resources.
